The Rottweiler
History of João Neves - Paraiba, Brasil
The Rottweiler is a breed of dog of German origin, known for its strength, loyalty and protective instinct. Traditionally, they were used as guard and livestock herding dogs. They are large dogs with robust muscles, with a short, dense coat, predominantly black with reddish brown markings. Despite their imposing appearance, they are affectionate with their families and quite devoted to their owners. They are intelligent and respond well to training, but require socialization and education from an early age. With proper management, they are excellent companion and protection dogs. Although they have a reputation for bravery due to their size, they are docile when trained and excel in various roles, such as police, therapy and herding dogs. They may present health problems, such as hip and elbow dysplasia.
